Chocoholics should book the weekend lunch and dessert buffet at Amber in the Landmark Mandarin Hotel, where a chocolate sommelier will advise on combinations of hot chocolate drinks. The dessert buffet, which includes white, milk and dark Valrhona chocolate fountains, also has unlimited hot chocolate drinks that will be made to order by the sommelier, using flavours such as Manjari from Madagascar (64 per cent cocoa), San Domingue from the Dominican Republic (70 per cent), Tanzanie from Africa (75 per cent) and Valrhona Ivoire (35 per cent). The drinks can be flavoured with ingredients such as raspberries, pink peppercorns and chilli. The weekend lunch and dessert buffet is HK$348 plus 10 per cent for adults (HK$138 for children). Three hotels are serving wild mushrooms from Yunnan province.

At Yee Tung Heen in the Excelsior in Causeway Bay, the selection includes stir-fried minced fish with ganbajun mushrooms (below), baked chicken wings stuffed with forest mushrooms, sauteed scallops with termite mushrooms and sliced ham, and pan-fried prawns stuffed with yellow porcini, goose liver and eggplant. Shang Palace at the Kowloon Shangri-La is also serving wild mushroom dishes until the end of next month. Dishes include stewed fresh frog legs with red porcini, sauteed fillet of lobster with chanterelles and water chestnuts, double-boiled chicken soup with morel mushrooms, sauteed porcini in olive oil, and steamed rice with termite mushrooms.
