Student's child porn sentence cut

A secondary school student who kept child pornography at home has received a lighter sentence in a review hearing in Sha Tin Court. Ho Yan-kiu, 20, was sentenced last week to 200 hours of community service and 18 months of probation after he pleaded guilty to possessing 8,290 photos and 205 video clips on his home computer. Police had raided his Sha Tin home in January this year. Magistrate Timothy Casewell yesterday discharged the probation under a defence plea, saying that the student needed to have it dropped so that he could be admitted to a university this September.
