B'Day (Deluxe Edition) by Beyonce

Eight months after the release of Beyonce's B'Day album, this deluxe edition comes with extra songs and an impressive DVD bursting with more music videos than usually seen on bonus discs.

This version of Beyonce's second solo album is a must-have for fans of the former Destiny's Child star. The CD contains nine tracks more than the original release, including Beautiful Liar, a duet with Latin songstress Shakira, and Amor Gitano, a wonderfully passionate Spanish duet with Alejandro Fernandez.

While B'Day is an above-average album with a few good songs, it does have its low points. It would have been a stronger album if Deja Vu and Upgrade U (featuring Jay-Z) had been removed. They are shameless attempts to appeal to 'urban music' lovers and give Beyonce more street cred. But the album gives some insight into Knowles' future musical direction. The songs show a mature, focused and witty woman who is learning to express herself freely. What makes this a great buy is the bonus DVD. It's a video version of the original B'Day album with the addition of the Beautiful Liar and Flaws and All videos.
