Speaking of the Alain Mikli cocktails: the guests had us wondering just how desperate for attention some Hong Kong personalities are. It's common practice for companies to invite (and often pay) celebrities to show up at events. Last Friday was no exception, with several so-called stars and socialite types mugging for the cameras. But you'd think the people who say 'yes' would at least have some link to the merchandise they're flogging. Apparently not. Witness Miki Yeung Oi-kan, the Acconci brothers of Soler and Amanda Lee Wai-man: all showed up at the Alain Mikli event, but none of them wears glasses. What gives, people?
