After an exciting battle, Ryuta Iizuka of Japan clinched the championship, followed by Taiwan's Yue Xiao-quan and Hong Kong's Wong Koon-wai.

'I am quite satisfied with my result,' said Wong. 'I never expected to make it into the top three places.'

Organised by Metro City Plaza, the event attracted 10 leading trial bikers from the region.

Four of the competitors came from Hong Kong, while the rest were from China, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and Japan.

The competition was divided into two parts. In the first task, the trial bikers were asked to complete a designated route within two and half minutes. Only Iizuka managed to finish it successfully and was crowned champion.

In the second challenge, the other nine trial bikers had to overcome various obstacles. Marks were given based on their performance. 'I was quite nervous during the competition. The atmosphere and psychological pressure affected my performance,' said Wong, 26, who took up trial biking eight years ago.
