Parisian designer Vanessa Bruno (left) appreciates the low-key approach. The designer was at Lane Crawford's IFC store on Wednesday for a tres intime presentation of her romantic autumn line. As usual, the venue was arranged so the fashion show happened in the middle of its atrium while other customers continued to go about their shopping. Not having seen such a display before, the French designer admitted she was quite impressed by how the upscale retailer managed to intelligently scale down the space in spite of its open environment. 'What I think is interesting is that if you take the concept of a fashion mall, you are definitely not really excited about it because it's cold and there's people passing in and out,' Bruno said. 'But I think the way they're trying to treat it in such a way that they just create a certain moment of exclusiveness, that's a little more special.' Bruno may not yet have the name recognition of the large brands, but she is one of the more admired stylists in the fashion world. She remains pleasantly modest, however, in keeping with her show's lack of bluster. 'We're not rock stars,' she said. 'We're just here making fashion, you know.'
