Bus mechanic made bogus accident claims

A 31-year-old bus mechanic who filed bogus reports of road accidents was sentenced to 100 hours of community service yesterday. Acting principal magistrate Amanda Woodcock also fined Chan Ka-wai HK$2,000 for wasting police time after officers responded to four calls he made within two weeks in April while working at the KMB depot. Chan, who earlier pleaded guilty in Kwun Tong Court to wasting police time, said he made the calls 'out of impishness'.
