Former Hong Kong starlet Pauline Wong Siu-fung is being sued in the United States for allegedly assaulting a fashion stylist recruited to kick-start her stalled career.

Vince Damien King - whose real name is Thu Hoang - claims the Shanghai-born actress head-butted him, smashed him in the face with a champagne glass and then punched him in the face after a boozy night at a French restaurant in the Wynn casino in Las Vegas on May 16 last year.

Wong's best-known roles were in Mr Vampire, The Peacock King and as Chow Yun-fat's girlfriend in Spiritual Love.

Her last film, Right Here Waiting, was made in 1994, online movie databases show.

Wong faced misdemeanour charges over the incident and agreed to attend anger management classes and pay US$500 after Mr King pressed charges in Nevada. The case was dismissed once Wong completed the classes in January, a normal procedure in the US for minor offences involving an accused with a clean record.

Mr King's lawyers have since filed a civil lawsuit seeking damages from Wong. It is due to be heard in Los Angeles County Superior Court in November.

The only independent witness to the alleged assault was photographer Leon Myers, who described it as 'unprovoked and vicious'.
