The countdown for the world's biggest aerospace exhibition has begun, and the most exciting part is that the expo takes place right here, in Tsim Sha Tsui.
Space Shuttle 2007, presented by Hong Kong Space Shuttle Limited, aims to be an educational experience for visitors and a boost for local tourism.
Space programme hardware from Russia and the United States, including Russia's retired space shuttle Buran, will be on display.
At a recent press conference, Sam Lam, project manager for Hong Kong Space Shuttle, talked about the size and potential of the project. 'The scale of this expo is unprecedented in Hong Kong,' Ms Lam said. 'We expect to attract about one million visitors, from here and around the world.'
She said the exhibition would boost Hong Kong tourism and provide employment opportunities.
The exhibition space will be divided into 15 zones, each offering different experiences relating to space travel and technology. The zones will include a Space Theatre, a Lunar Landing Show, a Mars Adventure Simulator and an Astronaut Fitness Test. Ms Lam described the expo as a 'once-in-a-lifetime' opportunity of great educational value.
