Five activists charged over rally at Michael Suen's home
Five public housing activists, including lawmaker 'Long Hair' Leung Kwok-hung, were charged with unlawful assembly yesterday following a demonstration by 30 people outside former housing chief Michael Suen Ming-yeung's residence on June 30.
They were granted bail of HK$500 and the case will be heard in Eastern court on Thursday. One of the five has also been charged with attacking police officers. The activists are seeking to safeguard public housing estate tenants from excessive rent rises by capping increases in the Housing (Amendment) Bill.
