Taiwanese pop singer Jay Chou Jie-lun is taking a break from his music career and turning his talents to the silver screen. He was in town recently promoting his debut directorial feature Secret, in which the multi-talented star also takes the lead role.
Chou talked about his role during a visit to Tuen Mun Town Plaza, accompanied by co-star Kwai Lun-mei (right), who won acclaim at Cannes for her lead performance in Yee Chih-yen's Blue Gate Crossing (2002).
Secret is a tragic love story of two talented music scholars who fall for each other, but whose romance may ultimately be doomed. The film also features a time- travel twist.
Wearing two hats on set was easy for Chou. He said he yelled 'cut' even when he was acting in a scene.
Chou shared the screen with actor Anthony Wong Chau-sang in Initial D, in which they played a father and son. The relationship continues in Secret.
'He may look really intimidating,' Chou said of Wong. 'But that's just how he looks. He's actually talkative in real life.'
