Online shoppers have reason to question the safety of pharmaceuticals bought from mainland-based internet drug vendors, given that just four websites are authorised. State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) spokeswoman Yan Jiangying named the accredited pharmacies amid rising controversy about drugs safety. Ms Yan said there were also 1,211 authorised websites providing information. She warned consumers to check the credentials at www.sfda.gov.cn to see if their licences were displayed. Beijing Youth Daily reported that a website defrauded a man of 1,000 yuan by promising to change his hair colour in 30 days. It included a link to a fake SFDA certification page.
