A jobless man with sexual fantasies about police in uniform was sentenced to 16 months in jail yesterday.
He had walked into Wan Chai police station and put on an officer's shoes, the District Court heard.
The court also ordered the Correctional Services Department to provide psychiatric treatment to Napoleon Cheung Wai-ping, 40, who pleaded guilty on July 24 to one count of burglary and another count of impersonating an officer.
On October 21 last year, Cheung was intercepted by an officer in the men's changing room while handling a stolen pair of white sports shoes.
The officer then recognised the sports shoes Cheung was wearing as the ones he had lost in the station two months before.
When questioned, Cheung claimed he worked in the traffic division but failed to produce a police warrant card and was arrested.
He admitted he punched in the pin of the combination lock on the main gate to enter the police station. He also said he had broken into the same police station sometime in August or September, and stole the pair of sports shoes that he was wearing.
