Dim the lights, snuggle down and chill out to the mellow musings of Birdpaula on her debut album Love is a Garden.
The American born, France-dwelling singer/songwriter's music is reminiscent of such greats as Carol King, Sheryl Crow, Eva Marie Cassidy, Don McLean and Norah Jones to name but a few. The result is a wonderful fusion of jazz, blues, folk and country.
The first track Write You A Letter is a moderately paced ballad with a dynamic guitar accompaniment and melodic support from an electric piano. The song brings to mind Janis Ian's At Seventeen and The Other Side Of The Sun.
This is followed by Lazy Day, a laid-back and spiritually uplifting ballad.
Another heartening track is Dream Sequins. Birdpaula sings about making a coat of dreams out of butterflies, passionflowers and birds of paradise. It has an optimistic resonance that is sure to make you feel good about yourself.
Love is a Garden is worth every cent. It's a collection of comforting tracks that are guaranteed to relax your mind, body and soul.
