Students who don't attend tutorial centres learn just as much as those who take private lessons.  Some students depend too much on their private tutors.  They pay less attention in class because they think they can make it up later.

Then they become lazy and fail to develop their analytical skills.

They could pay a high price because most exams test candidates' critical thinking skills, not their ability to memorise material.

Besides, teachers at tutorial centres do not provide a comprehensive guide to their students.

For example, if an upcoming exam comprises two or more important topics, the private tutor will most likely concentrate on one of them and ignore the others.

Also, if a student can't understand the school teacher's explanation, will he or she do any better at a tutorial centre?

Some may argue the difference is that private tutors offer one-on-one lessons. But I'm sure your teacher will answer any questions after school. Your teacher's advice  is free, while your private tutor may charge up to HK$600 per hour.

Although it may appear that tutorial centres provide a convenient path towards better grades, you can excel at exams if you do your revision and concentrate in class.

I believe  tutorial centres can help students achieve better results in exams.

Attending tutorial centres  has become a trend.  They offer a variety of subjects for students to choose from. The tutors also have a different teaching style which can enhance a student's interest in learning.

The centres  help students to master exam techniques - this is crucial if they want to get good results. Most teachers in mainstream schools focus on the syllabus and don't provide any extra knowledge to the students.

Tutorial centres teach students how to avoid 'traps' and allocate time efficiently.

They can face the exams with confidence and get good results.

In addition, it is important that students compile notes which could help them during revision.

This is especially crucial for senior formers who have to cope with difficult subjects.

But, with the heavy workload, students don't have time to take notes. This is where a summary of a topic provided by private tutors come in handy.

They provide clear guidance for the students, helping them to become more familiar with the subject they are studying.

Still, no one would succeed without hard work and perseverance. Joining a tutorial centre could give you that extra boost to achieve good results in your exam.
