If you like to spend money, you're in luck. Not only will you be rewarded for it - providing you have been spending with your MasterCard  - but you will see hundreds of tempting new items to add to your collections.

MasterCard Luxury Week Hong Kong 2007  is the inaugural event for a marketplace that is set to grow. Hong Kong people know that shopping is our favourite pastime, and affluent classes will be excited to learn that the city is finally getting a consumer-based fashion event similar to the one held in New York's Bryant Park.

Chater Garden will be the setting for Hong Kong's first marquee-covered catwalk experience, and invitation-only fashion shows will take place during the week-long event.

Organiser IMG Fashion  managing director for Asia-Pacific Simon Lock  said it was time to move away from previous trade-focused events to those that were consumer-based.

More than 20 designers will show their ranges - including a group show from The Swank.

Here is a round-up of who and what is hot this season.

America's king of clean, Calvin Klein  will open the fashion showcase with his acclaimed international collection. For those who are more familiar with his diffusion lines, such as CK, this is an enviable opportunity to witness the design talent that put him at the head of his field.

While he joins his peers in raising hemlines a bit this season, he stays true to his minimalist aesthetic: hidden pockets, hidden fastenings, and an earthy palette draw attention to the impeccable cut and finish of his designs.

Collette Dinnigan  was the first international hit to arise from Australian Fashion Week  in 1995 and in two short years she was showing in Paris as part of the official schedule.

Her designs - each handcrafted in Sydney of rich fabrics that include silk and satin with handmade lace trim - are now synonymous with femininity.

Dinnigan said: 'It's an exciting opportunity to show our collections to VIP consumers.'

Before the wrap dress it was an A-line tent dress that pushed Diane von Furstenberg  into the design spotlight. But the slinky, wear-anywhere wrap dress came to symbolise the newfound freedom of women in the 1970s.

And a new generation of women are in love with the designer all over again, especially this season's above-the-knee styles and long silhouettes. Her colour palette is quiet in this collection, in keeping with the trend towards muted mauves, browns and greys.

When Nicole Farhi  was designing for French Connection  in the early 1980s, she did not envision becoming a leader in women's tailored, luxurious separates or in the world of menswear. But she sets a standard in both, with designs that take men and women through their work week and into the weekend, with sporty, easy pieces. Farhi finds this season's sophisticated casualwear 'perfect for the Asian elegance and I'm very happy to be part of Luxury Week'.

Oscar de la Renta,  apprenticed to Spanish design legend Cristobal Balenciaga  and a couturier since 1963, crafted his first collection for Elizabeth Arden.  The Dominican has since taken his place as a true leader in fashion. Despite his longevity in a notoriously fickle industry, he remains fresh and current with his designs. De la Renta will show his collection in the marquee: a modern take on the lines and proportions of the '60s, in sumptuous patent leather punctuated with luxurious fur trim.

San Francisco-native Peter Som,  the son of two architects, understands form, function and composition. This new designer brings a breath of fresh air with this season's unstudied elegance and refined sexiness, which critics rave about. He follows in the tradition of American greats Michael Kors  and Calvin Klein,  both of whom he was apprenticed to before working for legendary designer Bill Blass.  Scarlett Johansson  is a fan of Som's sporty chic aesthetic and he will show his silky slips and separates during Luxury Week.

Vera Wang  is the First Lady of bridal gowns, but not many realise that she started as Vogue's youngest fashion editor, aged 23. Her marriage inspired her to start her business and it has grown into one of the most recognisable names in weddings.

Critics are clear that her ready-to-wear bears the same simple elegance and spirit of modern young women that one expects from Wang, and Hong Kong consumers will judge for themselves at Luxury Week.

Vivienne Tam,  our hometown girl and Polytechnic University graduate, returns to show her autumn collection. Marked by crew necks or mandarin collars, the simple, almost box-like silhouette is a departure for the queen of cling.

Tam continues to  show her respect for her heritage, but her usual overt Asian iconography has been replaced with stylish hints of Asiana through cut and construction.

With P. Diddy  (or Sean Combs)  as a business partner, Zac Posen's  business has boomed in the past few years. Natalie Portman  made him a red-carpet regular and Calvin Klein declared him 'the next big thing'. He virtually started the industry trend towards 1940s glamour in 2001, and it continues unabated.

The thorough finishing and elegant details belie his young age, and it is clear that the young designer will be part of the fashion landscape for many years.

One of the hottest tickets will be The Swank  group show during Luxury Week. Showcasing a variety of designers - some showing men's and women's collections - this show will be a round-up of the season's hottest trends. The Swank said the overriding theme was contrasts and mixture. For men, it is volume over tight tailoring, while women are finding news ways to assimilate old with new.

Asian-born, Paris-based designers Andrew Gn  and Kenzo  will show for The Swank.  Singaporean Gn builds on his experience at Emanuel Ungaro  and Balmain,  but stays true to his roots with his bold use of colour and strong, flirty aesthetic.

He said his new collection was represented by big bows, tube skirts and other clothing for a 'bourgeois princess'.

Award-winning designer Kenzo has been living in Paris for decades but, like Gn, stays true to his Asian roots with a colourful mixture of patterns and texture that is reminiscent of the vintage kimono.

Italian designers are well represented by The Swank.  Alessandro Dell'Acqua  will show his men's collection. He said: 'My womenswear is about 'extreme female' - fragile and strong at the same time, and my menswear is also strong: strong colour, clean lines, for men who carry themselves like men.'

Roberto Cavalli  - Italy's king of leopard-print chiffon - has changed pace with his women's collection this season, eschewing overt sexuality for a more classically styled military chic. Leopard does make an appearance, of course, but the tailoring is more subdued. However, the menswear continues in Cavalli's rock 'n' roll tradition, with Jim Morrison's  visage on shirts, stovepipe trousers - including a pair in leather, Chelsea boots and whiffs of snakeskin.

Sardinian born and based Antonio Marras  will show men's and women's collections. His collection veers north in his menswear, with higher-waist trousers than many designers would dare. The slim cut of his jackets - even a double-breasted military jacket has form - will flatter the body type of Hong Kong men.

The French will be out in force for The Swank,  with Givenchy,  Barbara Bui,  and Plein Sud. The Givenchy  collection is inspired in part by Blade Runner;  an eye for detail will detect polka dot linings in jackets and satin binding on an upturned hem.
