Slipping onto an aircraft wearing shoes battered on holiday is fine, but once you have settled, the need for a bit of comfort and style becomes a necessity. After all, you don't want to share the intimate secrets of your socks with the passenger next to you.

Keep your feet sweet by snuggling into rose-pink Romance silk slippers (GBP45/HK$715) by British company Ruby and Ed. Travel footwear will never be boring again. The ballerina slippers are finished with chocolate-brown embroidery (or in spice and citrus colours) and a bow that adds boudoir chic. They are comfortable enough to sleep in - and are so eye catching even the most blase flight attendant will turn their coiffed head in admiration.

Cut out unwanted light by pulling on the matching eye mask, which ties at the back of the head. The feeling of the silk will soothe you into a slumber. And when the plane touches down you can slip the set into the accompanying purple gauze drawstring bag for a stylish exit.

Another treat for weary feet is the brand's Sugar slipper (above; GBP25). This faux-suede hand knitted mule in candy colours of marshmallow-white and creamy pink is topped by a cute cup-cake for a fun, individual touch. They are comfortable enough to pad around your hotel room in and to wear on the plane home.
