I LIVE in the Shun Lee/Shun Tin area and on the evening of January 6, went to the Shun Lee Estate Community Centre, in order to sit in at the meeting of the Shun Lee/Shun Tin Area Committee, to listen to the discussions on law and order, and the cutting of a doctor serving in the government clinic of the area.
As a local resident, I was concerned about the cutback at the clinic. However, the committee's chairman asked me to leave the meeting, on the grounds that I had not sent in a request to attend beforehand.
I understood that, in principle, it had been agreed that meetings of the area committee were open to the public.
However, I found myself being caught up in red tape.
