Hong Kong's 10-member rugby squad are confident of winning this weekend's 2007 Singer Sri Lankan Airlines Sevens Tournament.

The team, selected by the Hong Kong Rugby Football Union, includes Andrew Chambers (captain), Colin Bisley (vice-captain), Anthony Haynes, Ashley Wayburne, Fan Shun-kei, Justin Gregory, Keith Robertson, Kenzo Pannell, Nick Hurrell and Rowan Varty.

Organised by the Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union and approved by the International Rugby Board, the Satellite Sevens-Asia event will be held tomorrow and on Sunday in the bustling hill-country capital, Kandy.

'We won the Jonah Jones Sevens Tournament [in Malaysia in mid-August], and Sri Lanka is all about building on that tournament,' said national team coach Rodney McIntosh.

Hong Kong will be joined by hosts Sri Lanka, China, Chinese-Taipei, South Korea, India, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Cambodia and Thailand at the competition. The 10 teams will compete on a round-robin basis, with the semi-finals and final to be held on Sunday.

Hong Kong are hoping to improve on their seventh-place finish at the 2006 tournament.
