United States-based Tibco Software said it would partner Worksoft Creative Software Technology, the mainland's leading technology outsourcing services provider, to run a development centre in Beijing for web applications.
The Tibco China Development Centre, which will initially house 200 engineers, will deliver service-oriented architecture, business process management and business optimisations systems for enterprise customers on the mainland and overseas, according to Ram Menon, Tibco's executive vice-president for worldwide marketing.
Mr Menon declined to elaborate on the financial terms behind the mainland expansion of Tibco, a supplier of business integration systems, and its partnership with Worksoft.
'We are committed to increasing our investments in high-growth countries and China represents an important market for Tibco's long term,' he said yesterday.
Major mainland customers he identified included China Mobile, Bohai Bank and China Post.
Tibco's mainland initiative follows a warning last week to investors for its fiscal third quarter to September 2. The Nasdaq-listed company estimated revenue at between US$130 million and U$133 million, less than previously estimated, with software licence revenues to range from US$50 million to US$52 million.
