Cuisine: Indian.

Ambience: The high ceilings make the long,  narrow room seem airy and light. Diners can  sit at tables  at the front of the restaurant or at counter seating around the open kitchen. The staff are friendly and helpful. The chef even came out  to ask for our comments about the food.  We were given tap water on request, without any 'sparkling or still' nonsense.

Price: HK$250 without drinks and before 10 per cent service charge.

Pros: A good variety of dishes at a fair price - for HK$250, diners get a set meal of nine dishes plus dessert. The food is  well presented.

Cons: It proved  to be too much food for  us, but we were assured that some diners are able to finish  the entire meal. My serving of lamb chops with exotic spices was mangled and misshapen,  and the cinnamon that flavoured the duck breast gave it a gritty, slightly bitter flavour.

Recommended dishes: The meal started with a kick: spiced green pea patties (right), filled with oozing cheese, had our taste buds tingling and boded well for the rest of the meal. The patties were followed by shots of fire-quenching lassi (plain, strawberry and mango) served in test  tubes. We loved the large piece of tender,  succulent mackerel marinated in cream cheese with dill (above). Although we enjoyed the flavour, the portion of paneer with bell pepper was  too large - the cheese is  dense and filling. Jumbo prawns from Goa didn't live up to  their 'fiery' description, but it was our favourite dish.

A tart lime sorbet cleansed our palates for the  main courses. Tandoori chicken lacked the garish red-orange colour of most versions, but even  the breast meat was moist.  The two naan breads - one slightly sweet - were puffy, soft, and deliciously charred on the bottom.

We finished the meal with small dishes of homemade ice cream with green cardamom  and fresh cottage cheese flavoured with saffron.

What else? If the amount of food isn't enough,  you can order  free seconds.  Diners with smaller appetites can order the dishes individually.
