Here's a chance for young writers and painters to get their works published. Under the Young Storyteller campaign, organised by SCMP Book Publishing Limited, six books created by children aged nine to 15 have already been published this summer. Five of the young authors attended two storytelling sessions at Dymocks bookshop in Harbour Centre earlier this month. They presented their stories vividly in front of a small group of children and also prepared simple props and games to keep the young audience involved. The picture books, each priced at HK$38, are aimed at children aged three to seven. They include Where Are My Eggs?, written by 10-year-old Samantha Goh. It revolves around Mother Hen who is determined to find her missing eggs. Another story - The Giraffe Who Could See the Whole World - was written by Agnes Chan, also 10. It is about a giraffe, Stanley, who can see what everybody else is doing. Children aged six to 16 can submit their entries online. Each entry should not exceed 350 words. The stories should be entertaining, easy to read and have colourful illustrations. They will be published in a 13-page, picture-book format. Participants will receive a response within two days of submitting their entry. For more information, visit www.youngstoryteller.com
