Retro beats are hard to resist and Calvin Harris's debut album I Created Disco is a throwback to the end of the 20th century with retro 80s electronica and 90s electroclash.
The twenty-something Scottish singer, songwriter and record producer got his big break when EMI talent scouts discovered him through his Myspace page in 2006.
His music is a funkier, more upbeat version of the Pet Shop Boys' sound with a much heavier techno quality. Overall, the tracks are easy to listen to tunes that will get most people up and moving.
The first single, Acceptable in the Eighties pays homage to that decade. It reached the UK Top Ten, staying there for 15 weeks. Its funky beats are guaranteed to get you at least bopping.
His second, and current, single The Girls looks like it will do just as well. The music video features girls dressed in white leotards sporting rainbow-coloured wigs. This is reminiscent of Andy Warhol's Pop Art and reflects the visuals associated with this genre.
The song incorporates a techno bass line and oddly appropriate sci-fi bleeps that will have everyone reinventing 80s robotic dance moves.
