BLUE House enjoyed a truly proud moment at the SKH Lam Woo Memorial Secondary School 13th Sports Day, held recently at the Kwai Chung Sports Ground.
With a powerful 113-strong team, Blue House came on top in the 35 track and field events, winning the inter-House overall championship with 927 points. Runner-up Green House trailed by 17 points.
Blue House also won the Boys' Grade B and C and Girls' Grade C House championship, scoring 204, 141 and 165 points, respectively. In the individual events, Blue won the Boys' Grade B and the Girls' Grade C awards.
Blue House captain Chris Lui Hak-kan said the overall victory was ''a big surprise'' to the House.
''Last year we came last, and never dreamt of winning the championship this year. It seems like a miracle!'' Hak-kan, a Form Six student, attributed their triumph to the athletes' fighting spirit and eager participation in athletic meets.
Form Three students Franky Wong Fan-kau and Edward Lau Tak-fung were joint champions in the individual boys' Grade B category. Both were hailed as outstanding sportsmen in the school.
''I am very happy to share the honour with my best schoolmate, Tak-fung, who is my strongest rival,'' said Fan-kau, who won gold medals in discus, shot put and the 100 metres hurdles.
