RTHK's long-running debate programme City Forum is going offshore, with Macau likely to be its first regional setting. The plan to stage the programme, which discusses political and social issues, outside the city for the first time followed integration between Hong Kong and nearby cities, the public broadcaster said. Assistant director of broadcasting Cheung Man-sun said RTHK had already contacted Macau broadcasters and he expected one episode of City Forum, which is broadcast live, to be held there this year. He said mainland cities such as Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Zhuhai would also be considered to host the programme. 'Many cross-border issues have popped up in recent years and we hope to bring City Forum out of Hong Kong for these topics,' Mr Cheung said. 'For example, the intense competition between Hong Kong and Macau in the travel industry has sparked fierce debates and we will invite officials from both places to express their views.' The broadcaster will also reintroduce the popular series Success Stories, which interviews outstanding Chinese from around the world. University of Hong Kong vice-chancellor Tsui Lap-chee, a genetics expert, and martial arts actor Jet Li are among those who will be profiled.
