Ten newborn babies at Kwong Wah Hospital have been found infected with a drug-resistant superbug since mid-August. The babies, all in the same ward, were confirmed to have been infected by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. A hospital spokeswoman said the ward had stepped up cleaning and infection-control measures, and limited visiting arrangements. University of Hong Kong microbiologist Ho Pak-leung said the cases represented a small outbreak. He urged the hospital to strengthen its infection control in paediatric wards.
