HK duo through to quarters
Hong Kong's Tie Yana (pictured) and Jiang Huajun made it into the quarter-finals of the US$135,000 women's world cup in Chengdu, China yesterday. Tie finished convincingly in group D with three straight wins, beating Japan's Ai Fukuhara, Liu Jia of Austria and Yang Fen of Congo-Brazzaville to stay top of the group. In group C, Jiang lost to favourite Guo Yue of China, but overcame Wang Chen of the United States and Wu Xue of Dominican Republic to finish second in her group. World number one Zhang Yining of China, number two Guo and number three Wang Nan, all reached the last eight.
