Smaller classes for effective learning
I think the news that class sizes are to be cut is good for schools facing the problem of under enrolment.
However, the reduction in primary school class size is still not big enough. Most teachers would prefer classes of between 20 and 30 students.
There are advantages of small-classes teaching; students pay closer attention and have more opportunities to answer questions.
My suggestion is the government can retain the current class size but consider having two teachers. Teachers can prepare classes together and share marking and when one of them is teaching, the other can help the students.
After all, no policy can satisfy everyone, although I like being in a bigger class I know that small-class teaching is better.
