Strong winds swept across Hong Kong for another day yesterday, uprooting trees, sinking a boat and disrupting services at Ocean Park.

The winds, however, were a boon for surfers who continued to ride the huge waves undeterred by warnings.

Caught between an intense northeast monsoon and Tropical Storm Lekima, the city was lashed by winds of up to 130km/h in what the Observatory likened to conditions under a No3 typhoon signal.

The strong monsoon signal was issued.
