FAST-FOOD stocks stood out yesterday in a modest day's trading in smaller stocks. Cafe de Coral was up 42.5 cents, 9.6 per cent, to $4.85, making it the best performer of the day. The shift in price was on a share turnover of $18.26 million and share volume of 3.86 million. The stock stands at its highest point since January 10. Its high for the last 12 months was $6.14 on March 23. Fairwood was up 15 cents, almost six per cent, to $2.70 on a turnover $4.04 million and volume of 1.53 million. China listings Guangzhou Shipyards and Shougang International also had active days. The H shares at Guangzhou shipyard were up 37.5 cents, 9.2 per cent, to $4.45 on a turnover of $19.06 million as 4.32 million shares changed hands. Shougang was up 35 cents, 8.75 per cent, to $4.35 on turnover of $60.96 million and volume of 14.37 million. Santai Manufacturing was up 15 cents, six per cent, to $2.60 on turnover of $1.97 million and volume of 798,000. Shanghai Petrochemical was flat at $2.825 on turnover of $76.06 million as 27 million of its H shares changed hands. On a rare appearance in the best performing stocks slots, ITC Holdings was in fifth place with a rise of 7.64 per cent, 27.5 cents, to $3.85, on turnover of $8.6 million and volume of 2.33 million. National Mutual managed to fall out of the top slots for price movement and turnover for the first time in more than a week. The stock slipped five cents to $5.30 on a turnover of $83.85 million and volume of 15.67 million. Last week the share plunged from $6.75 to a low of $4.90 after the chief executive of the group quit. The list of most active shares was similar to Thursday's. Allied Properties (HK) was flat at $2.50 in turnover of $141.14 million and a volume of 55.16 million. In volume it was the third most active of the day. On Thursday Allied Properties went up 7.5 cents to $2.50 on a turnover of $110.56 million and volume of 43.83 million. This made it the fourth most active stock of the day in volume. Yesterday Allied Group was also flat at $1.21, with turnover of $28.93 million and share volume of 23.68 million. This made it the seventh most active group of the day. On Thursday Allied Group was up three cents to $1.21, on turnover of $26.1 million and a share volume of 21.48 million, making it the ninth most active share of the day. Rivera (Holdings) slid 1.5 cents to 41 cents on a turnover of $10.16 million as 25.05 million shares changed hands. In share volume this made it sixth most traded stock of the day. On Thursday the stock was up half a cent to 42.5 cents on a turnover of $14 million and a share volume of 32.67 million. Paliburg Development fell three cents to $1.33 on a turnover of $25.97 million as 19.4 million shares changed hands. On Thursday the group was flat at $1.36 on a turnover of $29.7 million and a share volume of 21.77 million.
