Citizen eyes mainland

JAPAN'S Citizen Watch Co says it will explore China and other new markets, in view of the prospects for a continued strong yen and a sluggish global economy in 1994.

Citizen said its watch production had risen 12 per cent to 200 million pieces in 1993, but fallen in value by 2.1 per cent to 112.8 billion yen (about HK$7.96 billion). Its share of world watch production had fallen to about 19 per cent, from 21 per cent in 1992.
