Meanwhile, in the other SAR ... Macau's extreme sports fans are hoping to pick up a few tips from athletes competing in the 2nd Asian Indoor Games later this month. Electronic gaming and extreme sports will be big attractions at the international sporting event that starts on October 26 and runs for nine days. Competition sports include BMX freestyle, sports climbing, inline stunt skating and skateboarding. All events are free of charge. Coloane resident Oscar Fu said he planned to watch the skating competition and hoped the standard of tricks would be high. Oscar, 15, said it was not often that local skaters got to see international athletes in Macau. He said it would give him a chance to see new stunts that he might try himself. 'It should be great, we have been watching them build the ramp and are dying to have a go on it ourselves,' says Oscar. 'Most of the time we skate around the streets and parks because there isn't anywhere else to go. It's awesome to see other people do stuff and then you realise what's possible.' The games will also feature electronic gaming with competitions in car racing, soccer and basketball. Will Wong, 16, an avid gamer, said it was unusual for such a big event to include electronic gaming but he's interested in the car racing: 'A lot of people don't think that playing computer games is sport, but that's not true. 'They don't think about all the practise that has to be done to get good.' For more details, visit www.maigoc2007.com
