Should the government subsidise transport for the disabled?
The disabled find it difficult to travel around Hong Kong because some forms of public transport are unsuitable for them. On some buses the entrances are too small and there are no ramps, so people in wheelchairs cannot get on.
More money should be spent so buses can be adapted to let people in wheelchairs get on.
Disabled people should get subsidised transport. Many of them earn less than able-bodied people and yet they have expenses to meet. Some disabled people have to go to hospital for physiotherapy and they have to find a way of getting there.
A transport subsidy would make it easier for them to make these necessary hospital appointments.
