Put your tail on the line and enter the 5th annual Chili Spank Off on October 27 at the Indian Recreation Club (right) in Causeway Bay. The event is open to amateurs and professionals. Last year's champion, Wade Watson (below right) of Lux restaurant in Lan Kwai Fong, will return to defend his title against chefs from Coyote, Agave, Thai Lemongrass, Veda and Beirut.

Contestants must cook a vat of chilli to feed 25 to 30 people. The chilli cannot contain pork products and only reheating can be done at the club, where entries will be judged by a panel. Winners will be announced in the amateur and professional categories.

If you just want to enjoy a day of chilli tasting but don't want to enter the competition, there's an entrance fee of HK$288 that includes two Sol beers. Tickets are available at Beirut Bar & Restaurant in Lan Kwai Fong and the Pantry Magic stores in Central and Causeway Bay.
