Juicy sushi

The fourth branch of Hokkaido Katsu Sushi (above), which has opened in Causeway Bay, is the chain's first on Hong Kong Island. Far from being a cookie-cutter copy of the other branches, the space is decked out in grey with black chairs and has an eye-catching wall installation made from plastic models of sushi.

As its name suggests, the chain serves sushi made with fish flown in from Hokkaido. One of the specialities is fresh saury sashimi (HK$86), which is available only from August to October.

Some of the more unusual sushi items include teriyaki oyster (HK$25), salmon kimchee (HK$12), yellowtail with sea urchin (HK$25) and broiled shrimp with cheese (HK$16). There's a display of live Hokkaido seafood - such as scallop (HK$35), surf clam (HK$45) and whelk (HK$50) - which can be prepared to order.

Hokkaido Katsu Sushi is at G/F, San Kei Tower, 56 Yee Wo Street, Causeway Bay, tel: 3743 0918.
