Innovative design remains Samsung Electronics' strong suit in making handsets, and its Anycall Ultra Video F508 dual-face mobile phone confirms that. But the appeal of this 3G handset is based more on what it has inside. It is the first mobile phone built with cross-platform DivX video compression-decompression software. With the DivX system, users can compress lengthy, high-quality videos - downloaded from the internet or a computer - into smaller file sizes and play them back on the F508 with the same visual quality. Video formats supported include MPEG-4, Xvid, H.263 and Windows Media Video. The candy-bar handset contains camera-phone functions on one side, while the other has multimedia controls and a 2.4-inch liquid crystal display screen that swivels up to 180 degrees. It has 350 megabytes of internal memory and supports up to a 2-gigabyte microSD card. Assuming an average file size, users can view two movies, each about two hours long. The Anycall Ultra Video F508 costs HK$5,980.
