Name Yeung Shiu-lun
School City University of Hong Kong (associate degree in social science)
Sport Cross-country and long-distance running
Achievements Yeung, 19, won the men's junior category  at the Hong Kong Cross Country Championships this year. He came fifth in the same competition in 2006.
He was part of the Hong Kong squad who took part in the 2006-07 interport cross-country competition in Macau, where they  clinched the secondary boys'  championship.
He also joined the 2006-07 All-Hong Kong Schools Jing Ying cross-country competition and came sixth in the secondary boys' category.
He maintained his good form by coming fifth in the Nike Hong Kong 10km Challenge.
In addition, he won the 2005-06 A. S. Watson Group Hong Kong Students Sports Award.
Soundbite 'I've been running long-distance races for a few years. I started official training about four years ago when I was in Form Four,' Yeung said.
'I like cross-country events more than track races. I enjoy running up and down the hills. Besides, I have to tackle different routes, where there could be a lot of sand or rocks.
'Together with the weather changes, it's really exciting and challenging.
'My dream is to be a fireman. In order to achieve that goal, I wanted to strengthen my body and muscles. Therefore, I started cross-country running.
'It has really helped because I not only improved my physical strength, I'm also much healthier than before. I seldom get sick these days.
'I reduced my training to prepare  for the A-Levels  earlier this year.
'I worked harder after I finished the exam in June. The Hong Kong Cross Country Championships was my first competition this year. I was so happy to clinch the championship. It has given me more confidence for the upcoming events.'
From his coach 'Yeung is a very good runner. He has a solid foundation and won't give up easily,' said Cheung Chi-wah, a coach at Tsuen Wan Athletic Club (Yeung is a member of the club).
'This is the last year he will be able to take part in junior events. I have great expectations of him.'
Ambitions 'My target is still to be a fireman.  However, my interest in running has grown over the years,' Yeung said.
'I think I will keep running for a few more years. My short-term target is to break the Hong Kong junior cross-country record.'
