Sister claimed scriptwriting fees for work she hadn't done
A popular RTHK disc jockey admitted yesterday he made bogus claims to the public broadcaster in order to obtain service fees for a regular freelancer who did not want to make the claims under her own name.
Leung Ka-fai, who broadcasts as Roland Leung Yik-lun, claimed his elder sister had provided scriptwriting and research work for his programme when she had never done so.
The court heard that the bogus claims led RTHK to pay HK$10,600 between September and November 2001.
The court heard that Leung approached his sister, Josephine Leung Wai-ka, for help at the 'request' of regular freelancer Shirley Tsang Suk-yi, who actually provided the services and pocketed the three payments.
Leung pleaded guilty to a charge of conspiracy to defraud while his sister was freed after the prosecution offered no evidence against her on the same charge.
