Winter fest Prepare for the season's new makeup trends with the latest products. One of the key trends is towards neutral hues and monochromes, with a dash of red lipstick to add Hollywood glamour. Chanel took inspiration from gardens for its new makeup collection. The Camelias collection is a monochromatic palette of rosewoods, beiges, browns and deep reds, with names inspired by nature, including Sequoia which combines plum, pink, apricot and copper brown. The new Clarins lipstick collection spans the colour spectrum from neutral to scarlet. Hues such as Cappuccino and Candy Pink offer subtle cover, while Grenadine and Scarlet provide a bold choice of colour. The lipsticks contain coconut oil and vitamins C and E, which are said to have a moisturising effect. The brand will launch a new mascara, the Wonder Length Mascara, next month. A polymer film gives a lengthening look, while a brush with short fibres catches lashes from the roots, giving extra coverage. It will be available in black, brown and violet. The Decadence collection from Los Angeles-based Smashbox comes packed in new gunmetal pots. New eye shadows include two trios of colours, enabling the user to experiment with varying degrees of shades. One trio is called Opulence and features a shimmer cream shade, chocolate brown and copper. There is also a new cheek colour in Ecstasy, which adds a warm bronze to cheeks. The new Estee Lauder Signature Lipstick collection launches this month, with a new wax base formula which the brand says provides brighter colour and a new emollient paste. The collection has four colourings - pink-berry, mauve-plum, nude-brown and coral-red.
