What is it? A traditional Hawaiian massage which uses elbows and forearms to massage your tired muscles. What's the atmosphere like? Mu-lan Spa is located just inside the ii Hair Nail Spa salon, and is decorated in relaxing earth tones. The treatment room is small but has its own shower. Your belongings can be placed inside a closet and you'll be given disposable slippers. What's the treatment? The masseuse massages your shoulders before she leans on her elbows and forearms to knead the stiffness out of tired muscles. The treatment begins from the back and continues down to the legs, ending with a gentle scalp massage. What were the results? Pain, at first. The masseuse warned me that the treatment would hurt a little. At first the massage is a shock to the system - like cleaning a wound with alcohol, but once you walk out of the door, tiredness and stiffness suddenly disappear. Two days later, it felt like I had played 20 hours of tennis the day before, but it was a good pain after all, particularly on the shoulders and back. Anything you didn't like? The spa was smaller than expected, and the washroom is outside the spa, which makes it inconvenient when nature calls. I was told to get changed into a robe before the treatment, but it would have been nice to take a shower before soaking myself in massage oil. How much, and where is it? HK$680 for one hour at Mu-lan Spa, Shop G3A, Prince's Building, Central. Inquires: 2155 5151
