100 million yuan policy for Liu

A mainland insurance company has presented superstar hurdler Liu Xiang (pictured) with a 100 million yuan policy in case of serious injury. The Olympic gold medallist would be entitled to the compensation in the case of a 'major injury' before or during the Beijing Olympic Games, the company said. Specific terms were not disclosed. The presentation came after Liu's coach, Sun Haiping, voiced concern for his welfare should he suffer serious injury. A payout in terms of a general China team insurance policy would be vastly inadequate recompense for the man with the record-breaking legs, Sun said.
