After a couple of heady weeks - at the World Cup final and then captaining the Hong Kong sevens squad in Singapore - CBRE Club skipper Nigel D'Acre will get back into the local frame, starting today's first division encounter against Generali Causeway Bay Rams on the bench.

'It is back to work, I guess, after a couple of exciting weeks away. As such it was just fair that I should start on the bench and as we have such a strong depth to our team this year, it is not a big worry,' D'Acre said.

At the end of the first round, Hong Kong Football Club are the runaway leaders in the six-strong first division, having a healthy 10-point lead over second-placed Synovate HKCC. But more importantly, Club hold the psychological high ground after remaining unbeaten.

'The second round will be harder. Everyone will be gunning for us. The key for us now will be to take it game by game and with this in mind, we certainly won't be taking [last-placed] Causeway Bay lightly,' said D'Acre.

D'Acre is a satisfied man on all fronts. Also the captain of the sevens squad, he was happy with Hong Kong's performance at last weekend's Singapore Cricket Club Sevens where they finished as Plate runners-up to the United States.

'That tournament is becoming harder and harder every year. A number of national teams are masquerading as club sides, including half the Tongan squad, Papua New Guinea and Kenya. We did very well, and could have won the Plate if not for a weakened bench,' D'Acre said.
