Infernal Affairs co-director Andrew Lau Wai-keung is among five directors invited to make a short film for the upcoming 2008 Olympic Games as part of a project called Vision Beijing.

The project was organised by the Beijing Foreign Cultural Exchanges Centre to promote the 2008 Beijing Olympics to other countries and show how the capital is getting ready for the Games.

The films will be shown to local and foreign media and will also be available on various airlines' in-flight entertainment programmes.

The director of Cinema Paradiso, Italy's Giuseppe Tornatore; Children of Heaven's Iranian director, Majid Majidi; the French director of The Hairdresser's Husband, Patrice Leconte, and veteran British TV sports director Daryl Goodrich will each film a five-minute video.

Tornatore's contribution will tell the story of the reunion of a secondary school teacher with a student 30 years after the student's graduation, and Majidi's film will be about children.

Lau's film focuses on Beijing cuisine. 'Maybe they know I love to eat, so they asked me to do something about food,' he said.
