What is it? A convenient portable charger that plugs into airline audio systems to charge mobile devices such as iPods, game players, BlackBerries and mobile telephones.
How does it work? The Inflight Power Recharger uses the latest energy-harvesting technology to pump up the low-voltage power from the headphone jack (1.5 volts) on a storage capacitor.
It then delivers this to the personal electronic device at a higher voltage (5 volts).
Operation is simple: first turn up the volume of your aircraft audio control to maximum (with headphones disconnected). Plug the recharger cable in the audio jack, connect the device to be charged to the USB jack and turn on the switch. A light on the case indicates when it has begun charging.
What's so good about it? The Inflight Power Recharger ticks all the travel-friendly boxes, being small, compact and light (85 grams). And its interchangeable nature means it charges
a wide range of mobile devices. It also reduces the reliance on environmentally unfriendly batteries.
