Marc Collin
Two for the Road
(The Perfect Kiss)
It's hard to take this set seriously. A 'soundtrack' for an imaginary movie, it is Marc Collin's latest offbeat musical idea that is innovative, absurd and tongue in cheek. At least one hopes it was partly a warped sense of humour that had him creating a narrative for the 12 original tracks.
Anyone curious enough to listen to the simple lyrics and spoken pieces will realise it's a love story grafted on to a road movie with stylish sorts in leading roles. In short it is a self-conscious cliche from start to end, but one charming enough to constitute fun.
Here's the story: Ann and Cooper were almost sweethearts at high school. It's not clear why they didn't get it on when both shared an interest in 'lucid dreaming (being conscious while in la-la land)'. Ten years later, he suggests a trip to a convention for lucid dreamers.
