THINGS could be about to pick up for visiting English rider Alan Munro if yesterday's trackwork session is any guide.

The English and Irish Derby-winning jockey was noted putting a number through some decent work, notably Alex Wong Siu-tan's first-season Australian import Millenium Reigns and Neville Begg's improving Magic Joy.

Millenium Reigns won his first three races as a two-year-old at Rosehill and Royal Randwick in Sydney, scoring from 1,000 metres on dead ground to 1,200 metres on good.

After that he ran respectably in some of the most competitive two-year-old races in Sydney and was also asked to take on decent company at three before coming to Hong Kong.

He last ran in September of last year so he shouldn't be too ring rusty when making his debut up here from a mark of 80 in Class Two - a handicap rating he has earned with his two and three-year-old performances but a rating which, all the same, leaves him pretty exposed.

His trackwork has been very good since he arrived and yesterday was no exception, suggesting that he should be competitive from that rating of 80.
