Antique and rare pieces get permanent home in Hong Kong
Watch collectors and connoisseurs get their very own boutique this month, when former collector and watch specialist Marc Djunbushian opens his first Hong Kong gallery, Tourbillon in The Galleria in Central. The founder, who has a boutique in Paris, has until now held exhibition sales in Hong Kong in order to showcase a selection of antique and vintage timepieces.
The gallery will provide a permanent home for these timepieces, and for the opening, a wide selection of Patek Philippe perpetual calendars will be on display. These watches, manufactured between 1943 and the present, include highly sought after masterpieces including a vintage model in yellow gold. Less than 100 pieces were produced in 1958. The watch has a sale price of HK$3.8million.
Other rare pieces include a Vacheron Constantin clock, Pendulette, made in 1920. Considered an exceptional example of art in watchmaking, this clock combines mother-of-pearl, agate, lapis lazuli, onyx and diamonds. Only one clock was created, and it comes with its original box and is valued at HK$1.3million.
