LEGISLATORS yesterday voted to press ahead with an investigation into the controversial dismissal of ICAC deputy operations director Alex Tsui Ka-kit.
Legislators from the two major parties, the United Democrats and the Liberal Party, said at a security panel meeting that they were obliged to continue with the inquiry, which they halted last year.
They will, for the first time, invoke the Powers and Privileges Ordinance, which allows them to summon anyone they wish to give evidence.
Three independents voted against a motion to begin the inquiry by summoning ICAC Commissioner Bertrand de Speville, Mr Tsui and others to give evidence.
The panel decided last December to postpone the inquiry because of a police investigation.
The police inquiry was sparked after Mr Tsui alleged that his former boss, Jim Buckle, had perverted the course of justice over a claim of sexual harassment by an expatriate officer.
