1887: The London Missionary Society and Ho Kai, the first Hong Kong-born Chinese qualified in western medicine, open the Alice Memorial Hospital, which housed the Hong Kong College of Medicine for Chinese, the city's first western medical school and the early precursor to HKU.
1892: Sun Yat-sen graduates from the college.
1907: The Hong Kong College of Medicine for Chinese is renamed the Hong Kong College of Medicine.

1927: Eva Hotung becomes HKU's first female medical graduate.
