Tin Shui Wai a perfect model for planners of what not to do

In last week's edition of Newsweek, there was an article which mentioned the plight of those living in Tin Shui Wai.

It called the district a ghetto and said the high-rises clustered 'like bamboo shoots'.

I live there, so this article really hit home.

Tin Shui Wai can be described as a collective failure on the part of the government in the areas of district planning and in terms of housing policy.

It is totally wrong for our government to have created this new town and then abandon it.

There is a depressing uniformity to these apartment blocks, like something from the 1950s.
